Rogues’ Gallery of Bloggers

Barbara Fleming was the founding editor of the Graceful Aging Blog. She herded together its original writers and helped establish its style and format.

She was a local author and editor. She wrote many books and articles on the history of Fort Collins and the surrounding area as well as a number of historical novels.

Barbara died November 12, 2021 at the age of 85.

Michaele Bradley has lived in Fort Collins for 31 years. In addition to writing, Mike likes gardening, volunteering and helping her friends. Growing up in California and working in hospital and nonprofit settings helped her to learn the value of volunteers.

Gary Raham is a teacher, graphic artist, illustrator, and writer.  He has authored (and often illustrated) 21 books of science fact and science fiction. His most recent SF title, Not Quite Dead Geniuses at Large on an Angry Planet, was a 2024 Colorado Book Award finalist.

Lynn Kloss went back to school after retirement to get her Masters in psychology, with an emphasis on geropsychology.  She has volunteered with seniors and dementia patients since retiring.  Lynn currently volunteers at the Aspen Club and the Museum of Discovery.


Kristy Wygmans is a graduate of Michigan State University and has enjoyed owning several businesses, as well as being involved with the Foundation on Aging, Larimer County Office on Aging Advisory Board, and Pathways Hospice.  She is a board member of Living Her Legacy.

Dale Hein, a retired long-time professor of Fishery and Wildlife Biology at the Warner College of Natural Resources.  He also served as director of the Summer Field Ecology Program at CSU's Pingree Park campus for 10 years.

Dale wrote our first blog in January 2017

Renate Justin wrote, taught medicine, studied philosophy and ethics. She worked with street children in Central America and had long been a CASA advocate for abused and neglected children in the Colorado foster care system. Renate practiced family medicine in Fort Collins from 1987 until 1995. she died in June 2017.

Pat Stoltey is an author of several amateur sleuth mysteries. Her most recent release In Defense of Delia  was published in 2022. She has been a member of Sisters in Crime, Mystery Writers of America, Rocky Mountain fiction Writers and Northern Colorado Writers.

Dr. Grace Napier was emerita professor of special education, University of Northern Colorado Greene was born blind in 1922. She enjoyed reading and writing, has written five books and had used 10 dog guides over her 75 years. She passed away December 31, 2020.

Nancy Reed’s Love of words, inspired her to write from an early age: short stories, novels, memory, snippets, Scripps, and poetry. Her latest book is conversations between two great friends, 2017. She calls Colorado the perfect place to live.

Brian Woodruff landed in Fort Collins 36 years ago, to study atmospheric science at CSU, then wound up staying to work for the City of Fort Collins.  He retired after working on air pollution in city and county governments for 39 years.

Brian died on December 9th 2023.

Verley Boulton moved from South Dakota to western Colorado at age 10. She received an accounting degree from Barnes School of Commerce in Denver and worked as a financial analyst for 25 years at Teledyne

Richard Thompson was a retired Presbyterian minister and past President of the Fort Collins Interfaith Council. He was married to Jane, a retired school librarian.

Richard passed away April 11, 2024

Judy Oakleaf is a native Coloradoan. After receiving her bachelors degree in social work, she spent several years working with social services and 1986 returned for her masters degree in education. She supervised student teachers for Colorado State University and has volunteered at Homeless Gear, loves  long walks, camping, and books, books, and more books.

In 2012 Clay Carter retired as a minister, family therapist, and addiction therapist. In 2008 he published a book entitled Older, Wiser Happier: 10 Choices for Rebooting Your Life at 50+. which he used for his workshops on issues related to aging.

Wes Rutt is a runner, biker, and woodcutter who used to spend his free time as the outreach and education chair for the Colorado tree, farmers. He and his wife Nicki make their home in the foothills west of Fort Collins.
