Completed Projects

  • Larimer County joined the AARP network of Age-Friendly Communities

With encouragement and support from PAFC, the Larimer County Commissioners applied to AARP for designation as an age-friendly community. PAFC accepted responsibility for carrying out the tasks required of members of this national network. Designation was officially awarded in February 2016.

  • Candidate Forums

In the Fall of 2014 PAFC and the Larimer County Office on Aging Advisory Council hosted the first of a series of candidate forums. Candidates for County Commissioner and State House and State Senate offices participated in a panel discussion of issues that directly impact the lives of older adults. Additional forums were hosted in the Fall of 2016 and 2018 . Plans for a 2020 forum were interrupted by Covid but on October 13, 2022 another forum was presented online.

  • Intergenerational Conversations

In January of 2019 PAFC partnered with the Loveland Housing Authority, CSU Center for Public Deliberation, and two enthused Loveland High School students and their faculty advisor to develop a program called Intergenerational Conversations. This was a monthly series of topic-driven round table conversations between local high school students and older adults.

The project has evolved into the genHERous project sponsored by the CSU department of Public Deliberation.

  • Zoom Project

In late spring of 2020, once Covid had settled into our lives, we launched a project to provide one-on-one Zoom assistance to isolated adults who wanted to stay connected to family and friends. It was funded by a small grant from the Larimer County Office on aging and included the purchase of Kindle Fires to distribute to those who had no digital devices. The project ended in the fall and was followed up with a volunteer-based tech-buddy project.

  • Sound Affects

Sound Affects music programming connects professional musicians with elder individuals living in senior care facilities or at home. Through live performance, one-on-one residencies, and advocacy, Sound Affects meets the needs of those who are prone to isolation and who cannot access public music in the ways that they wish. Sound Affects has established its own non profit status.
